Entry for April 1, 2007 ![]() Hello again everyone! I recently finished a Getzen 300 series cornet which you may have seen advertised on The Music Box front page. I am asking $250 or best offer for the instrument (I always consider offers). It includes a case and mouthpiece. It has had recent bell work done as well as some general dentwork. I have most recently been working on a Beauford American (Holton) cornet. You can see me checking over the dings in the picture above. It has some lovely engraving on the bell and incredibly intact silver plating! I was absolutely amazed once I got it cleaned up just how good of shape the plating is in! Last night I soldered the bell tell back to the casing, straightened the bell, straightened the leadpipe and resoldered one of the casng braces back together. This instrument is going to be beautiful! Let me know if you are interested in purchasing it, it also has a case and mouthpiece. The only major work I have left on this horn is replacing the 2nd valve slide. I am hoping to find a complete one that fits, but I will likely be building a new one from scratch! In the background of the above picture you can see a french horn I am working on. Somebody took the time to drill holes through the horn to attatch it to a wall, so needless to say I am working on patching those holes. I have a few solder joints to re-do and some dentwork on the bell, but other than that this horn is in decent shape. All of the slides work great and I am excited to see the finished product! Again, let me know if you are interested. Unfortunately, this horn does not have a case, but we can work something out for ordering one if you are interested in the horn. Make sure to check out my new "Tips" page to learn easy ways to save time and money in repairs to your instruments!
